Happy 25th Birthday Regent Arcade

Last month we celebrated 25 years of trading with a host of special offers, guest appearances by iconic 80s cartoon characters Scooby-Doo, Bart and Homer Simpson and a charity fundraising mega coin trail.

And you can’t have a party without a cake and WHAT a cake we had! Created especially for us by Pepper Crescent in Cheltenham the masterpiece was modelled on our famous Wishing Fish Clock . The honour of cutting the cake was given to Regent Goldsmiths owner David Hargreaves. Regent Goldsmiths has been trading at the Regent Arcade since opening day making David the best man for the job. He was ably assisted by centre manager John Forward and Scooby Doo.

The centre was opened in May 1985 by HRH the Princess Anne. One of the celebratory events was a coin trail to raise money for the Gloucestershire St John Ambulance and the trail was re-created as part of our birthday celebrations. The new MP for Cheltenham Martin Horwood popped in to visit the trail and the last coin of the week-long fundraising effort was laid by the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Sir Henry Elwes.
